TRANSFORMING THE HERITAGE SPACE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME
The HS Fellowship evolves into a two-year programme, creating more space for in-depth research, mentorship, and production.
Since its inception in 2016, Heritage Space has served as a platform for interdisciplinary engagement with intangible heritage. Initially launched as a one-year mentorship programme, it has supported researchers and cultural practitioners in exploring alternative methods of documentation through creative and research-based practices.
After six successful editions, Heritage Space is transforming its annual open call into a two-year Fellowship Programme, reinforcing its commitment to long-term research and artistic production. This shift allows selected fellows to develop their projects more substantially, with an extended research phase before moving into production. Rather than jumping directly into project execution, fellows now have the time and institutional support to delve deeper into their questions, experiment with methodologies, and engage in fieldwork.
Mentorship remains a cornerstone of the programme but with a more structured approach. Fellows work closely with experienced mentors through dedicated sessions to address both conceptual and practical challenges. The 2025–2026 edition features Kaltrina Krasniqi and Zef Paci as mentors, who will guide the fellows through research, production, and communication strategies.
Beyond working closely with their mentors, fellows also participate in collective sessions where they present their progress, exchange insights, and engage with one another’s projects. These sessions create a more collaborative environment, allowing fellows to share challenges, gather feedback, and build a sense of community around the program.
Over the years, Heritage Space has supported 52 projects across diverse disciplines, providing financial, technical, and professional guidance. With this new model, the Fellowship Programme offers a more rigorous and sustained framework for creative and critical exploration, ensuring that fellows have the necessary time and resources to engage deeply with their work.
For those interested in exploring past projects, the Archive section on our website offers a comprehensive collection of works developed through the programme. In the Archive, you can find detailed documentation of previous fellows’ research, artistic productions, and reflections, offering insight into the diverse approaches and themes that have shaped Heritage Space over the years.
