INTRODUCING IN CONVERSATION, A NEW PUBLIC TALKS PROGRAMME

We are delighted to announce the launch of In Conversation, a public programme dedicated to learning and intellectual exchange with acclaimed thinkers and practitioners from around the world

In 2024, we started thinking and working towards expanding our activities beyond the open call for projects which has defined Heritage Space until now. We felt that there was so much more to do to connect more deeply with the community through educational public programming, research and publishing initiatives, and meaningful collaborations with other like-minded institutions and practitioners. In Conversation came out of these efforts, with the first public events held in Fall, 2024.

In Conversation provides a platform for reflection, dialogue, and critical thought. Rooted in an open approach to education, the programme engages the community through public talks and workshops featuring artists, cultural workers, thinkers, and scholars from the humanities, arts, and social sciences, invited to address contemporary issues at the intersection of culture, history, and politics.

Our events are free and open to all. At a time when progressive thinking and being is constantly under attack, they respond to the ever-increasing necessity to make time to pause, think deeply, make sense of our past and present, and exchange hopes for the future.

The first talks took place in November 2024. In the inaugural event of In Conversation, HS hosted Vjosa Musliu, professor of International Relations, who spoke about ‘archive fever’ in Kosovo’s politics of historicization and commemoration. In that same week, Rosemary Grennan and Jan Gerber from the radical archive MayDay Rooms in London, spoke about the idea of ‘archiving from below’ and how counter-archives can be used as tools of resistance. They held a workshop at The University of Prishtina, offering the students a hands-on experience with their collection, and, later that day, gave a public presentation about the work of MayDay Rooms at The National Library of Kosovo.

All events of In Conversation are recorded and made freely accessible in our digital archive. Learn more about our first talks here.
