“Shadows of Taste” is a publication that traces the flavors, memories, and food spaces that have shaped the everyday life of Prishtina. Through ethnographic research and theoretical literature, Enis Bytyqi and Tesa Kabashi bring forward the stories of burek shops, traditional eateries, restaurants, and pastry shops as a mechanism of memory and a mosaic of Prishtina’s urban identity. Spaces that for decades, have fed the city and shaped its collective memory. From the 1970s to the present day, the project reveals how taste becomes memory, how recipes turn into living archives, and how food spaces remain sites of belonging, resistance, and collective identity.

Enis Bytyqi is an anthropologist and writer from Prishtina whose work develops at the intersection of analytical and narrative writing on culture. He has contributed as an author and researcher to various media outlets in Kosovo and internationally, addressing topics related to cultural transformations, collective memory, and everyday life experiences.

Tesa Kabashi is a researcher and anthropologist, currently engaged in civil society. In recent years, she has been involved in various research and cultural projects, with a particular focus on cultural heritage, the anthropology of food, as well as visual and artistic fields.
