Yanko, Albanian King, Ilya Zbadnevich by Sezgin Boynik revisits one of the most experimental avant-garde works of the early 20th century. Originally written in 1916 during World War I and published in 1918 in Tbilisi, this project brings back the innovative text created in the "Zaum" language, a hallmark of the Russian avant-garde.
Zaum, translating to "beyond-sense," employs phonetic and sound elements to distort poetic expressions, creating a language that transcends conventional meaning. Combining multi-accentual spoken word with local vernacular, Yanko, Albanian King offers a unique exploration of linguistic and poetic experimentation, bridging historical avant-garde movements with contemporary interpretations.
