COHË
Fitore Alísdóttir Berisha

COHË by Fitore Alísdóttir Berisha is a project that reimagines traditional wool-craft by merging it with contemporary artistic expression. Inspired by her interest in experimenting with applied arts, Berisha immersed herself in the wool-processing techniques to establish a deeper connection with this traditional craft. Over two months, she collaborated with Afrim Lata, a master wool craftsman from Peja, to learn and reinterpret the process of crafting qeleshe (traditional wool hats).

Through this engagement, Berisha explored cutting, sewing, molding, dyeing, and interweaving cohë—the soft wool material—into her artistic practice. The project bridges the historical continuity of wool craftsmanship with new artistic possibilities, offering a fresh perspective on the material’s potential as both a functional and expressive medium.

COHË means soft wool, a material that, when processed and thinned, becomes a delicate and pliable fabric.

The following works are the result of Fitore Alísdóttir Berisha’s exploration of this material, created through her collaboration with master craftsman Afrim Lata during the project.
